This is a non-public event. Over the weekend Jorth Gar and many other groups from across Australia that perform at the Abbey Medieval Tournament each year, will be gathering for a long weekend of living history and a practice run in preparation for the official public event in July.

History Alive is a combination of activities of the Roman, Viking, Medieval, Napoleonic, Colonial, Victorian and Modern Eras to appeal to a wide audience. Visitors to History Alive: A Journey Through Time can participate in Colonial Dance workshops, Fort Lytton Guided Tours and Historical Discussions. Witness spectacular battle re-enactments of Crusader Knights, Napoleonic Cavalry, WWI, WWII & Vietnam including Tanks! Enjoy Viking Cooking demonstrations, the pageantry of the Medieval Tournament plus the unforgettable Fort Lytton Cannon Firings.

Come watch and talk with Jorth Gar NVG Viking mercenaries (Varangian Guard) at the largest and most popular tournament in the southern hemisphere. Features armoured combatants with different fighting styles, tourneys, melees and individual combats, including Viking, Dark Age, High Middle Ages and Byzantine warriors, German landsknechts (mercenaries), Turkish Janissaries and exquisite Renaissance swordsmen.

Held on the grounds opposite Tamborine Mountain State School, on the corner of Curtis Road and Long Road, Eagle Heights (Mount Tamborine), QLD 4271

Come watch and talk with Jorth Gar NVG Viking mercenaries (Varangian Guard) at our very own show. Featuring displays of skill at arms with armoured combatants, blacksmithing, weaving, food, archery targets, live archery (you get to shoot at the armoured warriors), javelin and axe throwing competitions, and more. Join our Viking Culture Day Facebook page to be informed of changes.
